How to tie the Black Woolly Bugger (Streamer)
Hook: Tiemco TMC 5263 3XL or Streamer Hook, sizes 4-10
Thread: Uni 6/0 or 3/0 Black
Materials
- Hook: Tiemco TMC 5263, #4-10
- Bead (optional): Large black tungsten or cone head
- Thread: Uni 6/0 Black
- Tail: Black marabou (generous clump)
- Rib: Fine copper or silver wire
- Body: Black chenille
- Hackle: Black saddle hackle (palmered)
Tying steps
- Optional: slide bead/cone on hook before mounting.
- Mount hook, lay thread base from bead/eye to bend.
- Tie in a generous clump of black marabou as tail — equal to hook length.
- Tie in fine copper wire for ribbing.
- Tie in a black saddle hackle feather at the bend (tip-first).
- Tie in black chenille at bend.
- Wrap chenille forward in touching turns to the bead, tie off.
- Palmer hackle forward over the chenille in 5-6 even spirals, tie off.
- Counter-rib copper wire to lock hackle, tie off.
- Whip finish, head cement.
