Materials

- Tail: Dark pheasant tail fibers (3-4)
- Rib: Fine black wire
- Abdomen: Dark pheasant tail fibers wrapped forward
- Thorax: Dark hare's ear dubbing
- Wingcase: Black foam or dark turkey tail
Tying steps
- Debarb hook and mount in vise. Lay dark olive thread base to bend.
- Tie in 3-4 dark pheasant tail fibers as a short tail.
- Tie in fine black wire at the bend.
- Wrap dark pheasant tail fibers forward to the 2/3 point forming a slim abdomen.
- Counter-wrap black wire rib in 5 turns, tie off.
- Tie in a narrow strip of black foam for the wingcase.
- Dub a compact thorax of dark hare's ear dubbing.
- Pull wingcase over thorax, tie down, whip finish, head cement.
