Tying steps
- Mount scud hook in vise. Start red thread at mid-shank.
- Cut a 2-inch piece of red Ultra Chenille.
- Singe both ends lightly with a lighter to create a tapered, rounded tip — don't burn too much.
- Tie the chenille down at the mid-point of the hook, leaving equal tails on each side.
- Wrap thread over the chenille toward the bend, then back to the eye, securing it firmly.
- Build a neat thread head, whip finish, apply a drop of UV resin or head cement.
