- Tail: 2 black rubber legs or goose biots
- Rib: Heavy copper wire
- Abdomen: Dark brown-black dubbing or yarn
- Gills: Dark gray ostrich herl
- Wingcase: Black foam (2-3 sections)
- Legs: Black rubber legs
- Thorax: Dark brown dubbing
- Antennae: Black rubber or goose biot
Tying steps
- Mount large 3XL hook. Lay heavy black thread base.
- Tie in 2 black rubber legs or biots as tail.
- Tie in heavy copper wire for ribbing.
- Dub or wrap a fat dark brown-black abdomen to 60%.
- Rib with copper wire in 5-6 turns.
- Tie in dark ostrich herl on sides as gills.
- Tie in multi-section black foam wingcase.
- Tie in black rubber legs on each side.
- Dub a heavy round dark brown thorax.
- Pull foam wingcase over in sections, tie down. Tie in antennae, whip finish.
