- Mount 2XL hook. Tie in short elk hair tail stub at bend.
- Tie in brown saddle hackle.
- Dub olive-brown body to 3/4 of shank.
- Palmer hackle in 5 open spirals forward.
- Tie in olive or natural elk hair wing flat over body — Skwala adults ride low.
- Optional: tie in brown rubber legs on each side.
- Trim elk butts, build head, whip finish, head cement.
