- Body: Tan dubbing or hare's ear
- Rib: Fine gold wire
- Hackle: Brown saddle hackle (palmered)
- Wing: Natural tan elk hair
Tying steps
- Mount hook. Lay thread base to bend.
- Tie in a brown saddle hackle feather at the bend tip-first.
- Tie in fine gold wire.
- Dub a slim tan body from bend to 3/4 shank.
- Palmer hackle forward to the 3/4 mark in 5 open spirals.
- Counter-rib gold wire to lock hackle fibers, tie off.
- Tie in a generous bunch of natural tan elk hair as roof-style wing extending to hook bend.
- Trim elk butts cleanly, build neat head, whip finish, head cement.
